I was thinking to put a tsuba like hand guard for the Ginunting. I need some opinions for this idea.

You might consider the Tactical Ginunting. www.kalahicustomblades.com/traditional-philippine-bolos . I have a simple cross guard on my pinuti that extends only 1¼” both on top and bottom that saved my butt one day. I was cutting a banana limb that was really too high for me causing me to stand directly under it. The cut was clean not upsetting the limb in the least and it came down point first at me. I parried, diverting the limb. I only had to clean banana tree off the guard. With the sharp point and weight of the limb it would have been life threatening, a serious injury for sure.

The easy way is to make a tsuba (sheet steel/brass of preferred thickness, drill and needle files to make a hole for the blade) to just fit over the blade (from the tip), put against guard/ferrule, drill a hole on each side through tsuba into the guard/ferrule, and then epoxy and screw (or nail).
Otherwise, and for a better tsuba, remove grip (preferably non-destructively, but that might not be possible), make tsuba to fit tang, put on tsuba and re-install grip. You might need to make a new grip.
IMO, it's not needed, but it won't hurt to have it. It will make the blade heavier, and might affect how you can wear the ginunting. In practice, a knucklebow might be a "better" guard, and is less likely to affect wear/carry.
