I have an Angus Trim War's Lady longsword that needs some maintenance. I cleaned up the blade by lightly scrubbing it with oil and green scrubby. I need to take it apart to clean up the crossguard and pommel. How do I properly take this apart and reassemble it? Is it as simple as gripping the pin with leather between the pin and pliers and turning counterclockwise? I have done quite a few searches, but have only found pictures of disassembled swords. ![pommel-close-up.JPG](//storage.forums.net/1694914/thumbnailer/aT9uGkJINbc3DTn_lU4O.JPG)

Yep, that's the way. It's a simple tubular nut that threaded 1/4" x 20 tpi and should unscrew fairly easily. If not, there's some locktite on the threads and you might have to apply a very slight amount of heat to unlock it. I use to use thin leather and visegrips on these before I replaced all mine with hexhead nuts or permanent assembly. But these old solid-head nuts have their own appeal, especially on later period longswords.
Good luck!
