[glow=red,2,300]Nevermind all this, I've decided on one.[/glow] I've been wrapping and re-wrapping the grip on this little guy but haven't been able to make up my mind. After doing the same wraps a couple of times I realized it would be quicker to take pictures of each one and compare side by side. Then I thought I might as well post the pics and get some fresh eyes on it. Here is the short sword with a bare grip. #1 plain solid wrap. I like this but I don't like having the seam that is required with this type of wrap. #2 Small spiral with exposed wood. I like seeing a bit of the underlying wood. #3 Wide spiral. meh. #4 Wide spiral with spiral riser. I like this one a lot but it looks a bit too chunky on a sword this small. Makes the grip seem out of proportion to the blade. #5 woven. maybe a promising idea if done differently, looks like a Greek sandal. #6 Small spiral. I think this would look good with more variation of the leather strip's width.

Either a solid wrap, or wide spiral w/ spiral riser. Both of them look quite nice. BTW, what sword is that?

Hey BB I reckon #2 looks the gear. Would you amply epoxy it to secure the straps from slipping, or would it not be a problem? I've never tried that wrap, but with not same to grip it I imagine it could be slippy, but It looks great. How does the swords handle / flex now. Wheres the POB now? Yeah it's a good little sword now. Are you happy / having fun with it? I like little swords. and big ones lol.

Thanks Simonsays, this sword used to be a old windlass longsword of some kind but it had a bad thin spot so I cut it down and made a new hilt (full story in the "Sword Making Discussion" forum under "re-temper windlass update") Thanks Brenno, yeah it would need to be glued in place. Handles very nice now, no whippyness with a POB 3.5 from the cross. As soon as I get it wrapped I can start cutting with it. Hmm, I tend to agree with he anonymous haters, I don't think I really like any of those. Here's a couple more- Solid with twisted riser Wide spiral with small riser

Those last two are pretty sharp looking. I'd go with whichever one feels better in your hand.

The solid with twisted riser is the best in my opinion

It seems I've changed me mind. That wide spiral w/ small riser looks phenomenal.

Solid with twisted riser definitely! Looks awesome, and looks like the handle will glue itself to your hand as well .
