I'm not a smith or possess any kind of knowledge of this particular theme, but as far as I've read when speaking of titanium swords, it is that titanium is a poor construction material for blades in sword length, not to mention expensive. Maybe for knives though..........

sI4k: As I remember saying in your thread and it is important to state in this one as well, that isn't titanium, it is a titanium coating which is very different. Titanium coating leads to titanium nitride embrittlement as passed onto me by the esteemed Dan Davis. The only titanium coated blade I would trust is a SoG because they have been proven in the field under adverse circumstances.

Unfortunately, the price is not so cool. $890? Are you kidding me? I can get two of the best Cheness swords for that price. The titanium infusion does not impress me. A blade can be made into any color with the proper anodization. And to get it done on a sword may only cost an extra $100. Which means the two Cheness primo swords would work out to about $800 to $900 with the anodization for whatever color you want. Bah!

That made me chuckle

If I knew a place around here that could do that to a sword of my choosing for only $100 i'd do it in a heartbeat.

It's $890 Australian Dollars. Cheaper for you, but I know I'd rather spend money on two Oniyuri.
Thanks, -Tajima

$824.235USD
So its a little cheaper but not much. I think i'd rather look for a place that could do this instead of paying that i s'pose.

Well, Oldschool, the blade would be nothing special. Probably 1045, perhaps Stainless even. Global Gear isn't really prided on it's quality.
Thanks, -Tajima

This sword is NOT "infused" with titanium. The omly reason the blade is red is because they took a blowtorch to it until it turned red and then they stuck it in water. Believe me, I did this to a Masahiro katana once, only the blade was a dark purple.

Believe me, I did this to a Masahiro katana once, only the blade was a dark purple. Dark "peacock" purple is part of the spectrum of heating stel. That red is not. You can get gold, purple, blue, green, brown, then grey. From memory thats the sequence of colours as it heats up. I may be wrong. But that purple is a beautiful colour.

Wait, wait wait...I went into the website. It is the worst written advertisement for a product I have seen (not including Ebay)...
Exhibit A) Differential Clay Tempered Hamon Hardened to 65HRC
...What? That makes zero sense. Differentially Hardened, Tempered featuring a real clay hamon would have made more sense. That is just jibberish.
65HRC? That is not good. I wouldn't want a blade with anything above say, 62-63 HRC. Not that it changes anything.
Exhibit B) High quality wood that scabbard
Sounds very yocal to me. "Aye, dat wood be de ver' high quality." And even that makes more sense.
Exhibit C) This blade has been forged in a very secret and unique way.
This made me chuckle too, Hellinon.
I rest my case.
Thanks, -Tajima

BW means you don't get that Red colour from heat. And he's right. Yes you can get purple and I think BW knows that.

Oh yeah you can get purples and oranges and things but that red is unnatural to say the least.
