I'm a little hesitant to justify this because it was his room mate so who knows what was going on here. I will say this though, if a stranger breaks into my home they better be prepared to deal with life changing cuts, cause I'll dole them out if means my @$$

I've seen the Power Rangers fight and they can't hit anything. How could this possibly have happened?!? This might be his best defense yet!
Attorney, "Your Honor, there is simply no way the defendant could have been the one that killed the victim with that sword!.... He's a Power Ranger!" ---[jury gasps]---

CA has great knife laws. Any pocket knife can be concealed regardless of size. Any fixed blade can be openly carried regardless of size. As such, carrying a single edged sword in public is completely legal here.No doubled edged blades, butterfly knives, or some spring loaded knives are allowed. I was carring a Katana out in the open in Monterey CA some 22 years ago... and a police officer came up and started asking me questions about it. I answered politely and didn't give him any reason to give me trouble... till he asked me if I would consider sticking the Katana in my coat (Highlander style, I had a bid black duster coat then) to which I replied 'But officer, that would be concealing my weapon and illegal, I wouldn't want to do that.'

What was his reply when you said it would be illegal to do that?

What was his reply when you said it would be illegal to do that? He just kinda glared at me and said something like 'Don't be a smart ass'

I actually think he has a case for self defense, seeing as his roomate kept on going even after he retreated into his room with his girlfriend. What went on afterwards is still unknown (at least to me), but if someone's breaking into your room trying to cause you harm and you defend yourself with a gun, why is defending yourself with a sword any different?

Yes it does sound like it would be self defense, but he got arrested, so something might of happened that they haven't said yet.
If he was involved in a criminal act during the fight, than he can't claim self defense. He could of stolen from his roommate or maybe they were selling drugs? Who knows? We just have to wait until all info has been released.

Generally if you defend yourself with lethal force you will be detained and a bond will be set, also your weapon of use will be repossessed and chances are if they can find your other weapons they'll take those as "evidence" as well. Innocence or guilt is determined in court, all that can be said by cops is there's a dead guy and a guy with blood on his hands. If you are determined innocent you'll probably have to engage in a separate court battle to get your weapons back, and the departments involved will not be liable for any damage (mostly corrosion) that occurs while in evidence.

Well quite honestly because the United States is a gun culture not a blade culture, this means that juries don't enjoy seeing photos of a sliced up corpse and might look at you differently if you do that to somebody (even if it is justifiable defense).

No. We have the right to defend ourselves and use lethal force, if need be. I see it on the news, when someone defended them self and the suspect is dead or in the hospital, the news is talking to the victim in there house or the place it happened. If it is justifiable, they won't detained you but if there is question in your action they might.

Ah, I was assuming that "Dirks & Daggers" was referring to double edged blades. The wording is always strange. There's no where in the state laws that says how many edges you can have or not have. It just says "Prohibits carrying concealed dirks & daggers".

Red ranger acted in self defense. If so he's lucky he had a good attorney. Any average law abiding citizen would be locked up for years and that's the truth.

From HuffPost
Ricardo Medina Jr., Former 'Power Rangers' Star, Released After Prosecutors Decline To Press Charges "Former "Power Rangers" star Ricardo Medina Jr. was released from jail today after the district attorney's office declined to charge him in the stabbing death of Joshua Sutter on Saturday. However, the DA has asked the Los Angeles Country Sheriff's Department to continue investigating the incident, according to ABC7.On Saturday, Medina and Sutter, also 36, were allegedly arguing at their Palmdale, Calif., home, the sheriff's department said at the time... The fight got physical. Then, when Medina went into his room with his girlfriend, Sutter forced his way in, the department said. Medina allegedly grabbed a sword he had by the door and stabbed Sutter through the abdomen, police said. He then called 911, waited for police to arrive and was arrested. Friends say Medina was trying to protect himself. "It absolutely was self-defense," Frank Sheftel told ABC7. "It's definitely somebody that was coming after him and he did what he had to do." Sutter had been described by police as Medina's roommate. However, Medina's attorney said Sutter was a friend of the actor and not a roommate, according to KTLA. "There simply aren't facts here for a crime. It is a self-defense case," said attorney Allen Bell, according to ABC7. "It's been a self-defense case. You have an individual here that was the victim of a beating in the kitchen area before he went to the bedroom and closed and locked the door in order to secure himself from any continuing violence."

Is the same guy that does all that X.M.A. Heard on another post that a power ranger was a founder of it. Coincidence? Maybe if it's the same guy. Hmmm.

No, that's Jason David Frank, if I'm not mistaken. He was the White/Green Ranger, depending on what part of the show you watched.
