I've been partaking in some google-fu and can't find anyone who makes a hex nut with the right dimensions for an Atrim. I've been thinking about buying some 3/8 OD bushings and threading them myself. The end would be open, but I am going to use it with a Type-J pommel, and I can cover the end with a fake peen block. But also have a friend who runs a machine shop. He would make a few if people are interested in buying them (they wouldn't have a hex end for an allen wrench, but a slit for a screwdriver blade). I have no idea on cost at this point, but he is more than fair in his pricing.
So, three questions: 1) Anyone have a lead on the hex nuts for an Atrim? 2) If nobody can answer #1, anyone interested in ordering one of the hex nuts? The more that get ordered, the cheaper the price. 3) What material do you want them made from? Stainless steel?

Thanks for the tip! For $6 I'll give them a try... If they don't work, I'll make a couple from steel bushings.

steel hound's link looks a lot like the nuts Gus uses for the hex assembly. they come with that flange and are about that color. he just grinds the flange off.

Thank you Tom, I'd often wondered if these were the same as what Gus starts out with. I haven't gotten motivated enough to grind the flanges off and cut mine down to size yet, and by now I'm just used to the flanged look. :)

they look real similar. might be slightly different but I know they are 1/4 20 and look just like that.

You might ask Ernie at Yeshua's about this. He replaced one of the old style nuts on a Tinker sword with a new, internal one for me awhile back.

Just keep in mind, the Hanwei Tinker line uses metric sized threads while Gus uses standard

Same nuts Gus has always used. At least in the old days he did.

Either way, I'm sure Ernie has the skill to make them.
Actually it is pretty easy to drill and tap 1/4 20 threaded hole into the end of a bit of round stock.
