To buy or not to by, this is the question that perplexes me so. I'm either gonna throw my hard earned dollars at a condor dadao, or several small edc weapons/tools to load onto my person. Which way should I go with this? I'm not sure because I like dadao swords but in every way this condor sounds like a sword shaped axe and not exactly a sword. Also on edc knives and kubotans n' $#!+ I'll actually carry them for my personal safety, the dadao probably wont see as much use as my other more preferable swords.
So help me out folks, what direction should I go here?

Why do you need so many things to keep on you? You only have the two hands.

Also, even if I call it "edc" I have sort of a rotation going on.

I tend to use table knives for my food. And they generally provide you with one at restaraunts. I'd say the dadao. Just because I know a lot of people that tend to over-carry "self defence" doodads when, in all reality, you're really only going to use one, maybe two, on an extremely rare occasion. Are you going to get more use out of a pocket knife than a dao? Yes. But it sounds like you already have one.

Eh, I carry a fixed-blade, three folders, and a multitool everywhere I go that isn't work. Knives at restaurants suck and I've had too many good steaks ruined by lousy restaurant knives, so I use my own. I use the same knife for hygiene needs like trimming my fingernails and shaving whatever I might need to put a bandaid on. Adhesive strips + hair = ouch. I clean that knife every chances I get. I use another as a backup boxcutter / shelf scraper / general utility knife, and the third I carry just in case the other two aren't sharp enough because I've used them too much already. My fixed blade is for anything I come across that I wouldn't trust a folder for (had to trim a tree once with it spur-of-the-moment because we didn't think we'd need to until we got there. Long story. Anyway, the multitool is more for the pliers and screwdrivers than the knife... I also have a Gerber Artifact on my keyring with its prybar that doubles as two flat-head screwdrivers plus the folding blade (hobby #11) and the phillips cut into the other end. It's come in handy pretty often, too. Oh and I've got nothing for "self-defense" except my own cunning wit and my hundreds of hours of intense practice in screamlikeagirljutsu. I carry tools. Never too many. On the other hand, I do have too many knives in the sense that I own something like 20 basic "pocketknives" and only ever carry three. Likewise having three fixed blades in my rotation at one-at-a-time is a bit excessive, but it goes by my mood as well as occasion. For me, I'd save up for a better dadao or some other swordly thing just because I have enough knives. Depends what YOU want.

I think it is sound to invest in at least one or two good utility knives (folders or fixed). You will use them regularly enough for that you are almost guaranteed to get your moneys worth. In short, they are both tools and toys, whereas the sword is just a toy

I saved a pelican with a EDC knife my wife always rolled her eyes at when I wouldn't leave the house without one. the bird got a fishhook thru it's bill and was stuck to a pier. I even have one in our beach bag...lol. p.s. You should carry a small light too.
