Since there has been some interest in JWHOTSTEELFORGE swords in the Japanese sword section I thought I would post a couple of pics of a OLD Chinese style sword of theirs. This sword was purchased a number of years ago off ebay for the total price of $102 including shipping, back then their primary selling point was that their swords could cut through a dumpster...which as you can imagine caused a lot of comment on SFI. They also had a much larger selection of Chinese style swords. I believe it was listed as a Three Dragons Combat Sword. The sword weights in at 3.5 lbs by bathroom scales and is 34in. end to end. The blade is quite sharp with a double fuller down the bottom half of the blade. No cutting has ever been done other than some cardboard and pool noodles after it was first purchased. The scabbard it came with was quite nice but in the years of moving from the midwest to Florida to New York caused the wood to shrink to the point of being useless..I salvaged the fittings and some day hope to have the time to make a new one. Anyway just a couple of shots dome with a very old camera;

Tbh, this looks like something between 2 handed viking sword ( yeah i know xD ) and a Jian or what's it called. In other words, looks like a tank-like sword, weights like a tank-like sword and handling is probably similiar. Unless this has a rat tail tang it probably can be used to chop down trees if you'd have such needs ;D
Anyway, for the price, this is sure an interesting piece^^

Nope not a rat tail, although I have never taken it apart, the seller was kind enough to send me some production pics of this sword or it's twin, (unfortunately lost during a computer crash) actually it handles pretty well for what it is, but it is a tank. I tend to think of it as Conan's sword if he had been to China.

JWHOTSTEELFORGE was the seller unfortunately at that time he/they or someone who represented them were in the states. Here's the link to his current ebay store stores.ebay.com/JWHOTSTEELFORGE They/he was previously known as paartist86 Here is a sword I picked up for my Girl for $43.00 including shipping, 10 for the sword 33 for the shipping. Unfortunately things have changed...

It appears that JWHOT took off their dao swords, unfortunate, now I have absolutely no reason to buy from them.

harpersgrace, they were in Ohio if I am not mistaken. And I got a sword that looks just like it for the same price.
Have you tried to take it apart yet? If so, I wouldn't!

omg...what a monstrosity. The handling would make it a wallhanger if the looks didn't already lol.

actually it handles pretty well for a sword of its size, the Cop is about 4in down the blade and doesn't feel as heavy as it is. As far as it being a "monstrosity" that would be your opinion.

Salvatore, Chinese swords are not Japanese swords. Pins are secondary security and handles usually won't come off after removing them. From your description it sounds like the end of the tang was threaded and the pommel was screwed on? That is very normal and is not a rat tail tang. Rat tails are when most of the tang is dangerously thin.
