Has anybody seen or heard of staffs or escrima sticks that have a rod of metal down the center of springy wooden stick similar to a billy club?

I've never heard of that for escrima, no--we use rattan because it's so fast and resilient, you don't need extra weight to demolish a skull or anything. Maybe there's a style-specific staff or something, or maybe karate has a bo or jo or whatever they're called that has that. I'm sure you can find one somewhere! I've heard of Irish shillelaghs having that, but never escrima sticks. Here's a fun item, not precisely what you wanted, but still killer: traditionalfilipinoweapons.com/GiroIronwoodSticks.html

I'd love to see a cop walking around with that type of Billy Club. XD
