Does anyone have experience with this particular sword, or the manufacturer? ( kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=NS006 )It looks good, but it also looks like it would be a real cleaver if it doesn't have at least some distal taper. Of course, KoA doesn't make any statements about distal taper, and none of the photos are particularly useful in that regard. Also, does anyone know of a non-custom scabbard that might fit the sword? I would prefer not to pay more for the scabbard than I would for the sword if I do purchase it...

I see from other posts about Niello, that the opinion is rather negative, as the blades are heavy and pricy for what one gets. Looking at the stats from KOA I see this one has no distal taper at all, so this seems to conform this line of thought. The general view is also that they are stage swords, not for cutting. Hope this helps a bid.

Good to know. I read some of the thread related to Niello, and got the same impression. Does anyone know of a good quality hunting sword in the sub $600 range? I plan to use it for something approximating the original use, so I need a decent replica.
