If you manage to get a quality blade with good niku and accurate to your specifications, I know where I'm going for my next sword.

Me too - I just really wish that Jacky sent me some pictures before it was shipped out. I emailed him asking if I could get some pictures, and he replied a little over a day later saying that he just sent it to me.
Actually, I had also requested some pictures earlier on too, though I received none then too. I'm just really hoping that Jacky's not trying to hide anything by not sending my pictures of it, so we'll see. :)

Hopefully he isn't sending you a 1/2 inch round bar, with the note "Is this enough Niku for you bud?"

He'll receive a VERY colourful message and paypal dispute if that happens, thank you very much. XD

I mean... I guess it looks nice. Just not really my thing, I guess.

I mean... I guess it looks nice. Just not really my thing, I guess. I know, it's not a suguha hamon, right? ;) XD Though I like all kinds of hamon, not just one in particular. I think that every style is interesting in its own way, and I can see the care and beauty in all different styles and forms. I just wanted to gt a katana with a more lively and active hamon, as I already have a couple with suguha and midare. :)

Messenger, I like it, a lot. Me too, I'm just a little on the fence over the hamon, as I asked for a lively hitatsura on, and Jacky seems to have had a more simple choji one used. But we'll see once I get it.

It's not that it isn't suguha, or whatever, it's just... I don't know. Too much? I don't really know how to say it. I'm just not super in to hamons that are real wild.
It just doesn't seem.... Classy.

I've tried to set up something with Jacky several times, but communication always falls flat. So I gave up.

Messenger,
How long did you have to wait for that sword (from confirmed request to shipped)?

Was it a full custom order or one that was "off the shelf" with modifications requested?

That's a nice looking blade Messenger. Seems more like choji than hitatsura to me too. What are you thinking of using for the other components?

It was a full custom order.
And as for the components and koshirae, I have a vintage fuchi kashira set that would work well on a new blade, iron of course, and once I get a tsuba in a matching theme, I'll pay to have someone convert the shirasaya to a regular koshirae set.
I'm just kinda disappointed that Jacky didn't actually make a hitatsura hamon - Huawei has done so in the past, and for a price of over $300, I'm not sure that a regular choji hamon would be worth it. The more elaborate hamon is where I assumed most of the money would be going.
The blade also doesn't look ot be folded steel either, but we;ll see once I get it

Man, I've been waiting 4 months so far for my custom order. Granted there is a bit more customization required than a typical custom order, but even still. Hope mine doesn't turn into one of those year long waits...well I suppose it won't since I plan on cancelling the order if it's not done before the 180 day mark. But that'd be sad. Two more months to go, hopefully a fair amount of progress has been made since the last series of pictures I got.

Looking forward to seeing the finished project. Yeah, if I specifically requested a blade with a specific hamon and didn't receive it I would be a bit annoyed. It does look like the steel is folded (you can slightly make out folds above and below the hamon in a few pics, the resolution makes it hard), but whether or not the blade has a more convex geometry remains to be seen. Here's to hoping!
