Hey folks,
By popular request - I present our 'backyard cutting' sub board. ;D
Here you can post your youtube videos of your own cutting sessions, or discuss any issues related to creating targets, techniques and most importantly - SAFETY issues.
I cannot stress this enough, when doing any 'backyard cutting' the mantra is safety first. I have seen the blades of trained martial artists go flying dangerously close to a crowd before in circumstances that would never have happened to an experienced 'backyard cutter' - but by the same token I have seen some very stupid videos on youtube by people who are truly lucky to be in one piece.
We must remember at all times that cutting is an extremely dangerous past time and considerations for safety are paramount at ALL times.
To this end I recommend that before doing any cutting you have a look at my free ebook An introduction to backyard cutting which provides the most important safety considerations, as well as a brief run down of the various targets used and their suitability.
Any videos or discussions deemed to be unsafe are subject to deletion. Cutting is a lot of fun, but it is a practice not to be taken lightly.
Have fun, but STAY SAFE.

It is STRONGLY RECOMMENDED to receive proper training from a qualified instructor before attempting test cutting as SWORDS ARE NOT TOYS and the hobby/sport of Backyard cutting can potentially result in severe permanent injuries or even death. Despite all precautions being taken, unexpected accidents can and DO happen and it is the responsibility of the reader to exercise common sense and respect for the blade at all times.
