Thinking of you all lads and ladies near the fires. Take care of family and stay safe. Some real sempriniesque conditions, Adelaide was over 44oC yesterday (thats 111oF folks, and dry as!) and windy and dangerous.
Best of luck,
Rob

My thoughts are with them also. It's been 42 here as well and the wind is crazy, I sent Paula and the kids into town today and I stayed at home on our property to keep an eye out and keep the water up to the chickens etc, all good though and rain is due soon

Yeah a friend of mine is in north Adelaide and is getting pretty worried. We're getting a plan ready just in case even as fr way as we are. South east is on fire too her border town which ain't too far from my dads farm in the greater scheme of things. Hope he's OK. Just another reason to hate summer !

Been watching the ridge line behind my place since last night and most of today ,fires burning behind it and been slowly heading this way! ,wife and kids went to a friends and I stayed to watch the place so been a little bit interesting watching the smoke sort of fade into haze then suddenly massively plume up and go black...
friend rang us about 0130ish wanting us to sit with her kids till her partner got home ,she had to go evacuate her horses and others from their stables ,not enough floats to go around so multiple trips there.

Talk about crazy wind, not long after my last post we had a big gust of wind rip through. Chicken shed lifted, rolled and landed 30m away, 1 dead chicken, gutters ripped off my machinery shed, 2 nice trees near the house came down (10m high) and general crap everywhere. Just back inside now after a quick tidy up and tie down. I'll have a few repairs to do tomorrow... Surprisingly the chicken shed mostly kept its shape and I've been able to secure it of sorts to keep our remaining 6 chickens.
