I come to you seeking aid for a 90s Windless Steelcrafts 17th Century Italian Rapier. One of these guys: There are two problems: 1) The first and most worrying is that the blade is loose and twists to one side, roughly to a 45 degree angle. I can twist it back, but it won't stay. There looks to be four points of contact with the hilt---two right on the top of the basket hilt where the naked sword emerges and two inside the base of the hilt right above where the wired grip starts. 2) The grip itself is completely unmoored to the handle. The leather (or whatever the wire's wrapped around) is basically a free-floating tube around the tang. I have a feeling I could at least fix the grip issue if I removed the pommel, slide it off, and applied some epoxy... but I believe this is a peened pommel, so it's not just coming off.

Looks to not be peened but a little difficult to tell from the photo's, you are right about the epoxy, remember to get good quality epoxy not the cheap Chinese crap, clean all surfaces etc.

You were right about the pommel. I decided to give unscrewing itanother shot and after a bit of elbow grease, I managed to get it off. The hilt, as it turns out, has a slight indentation where the base of the ricasso is supposed to lie.
The grip might be an issue, though... looks like the inside of the tube has worn out to the point there's not much surface contact for the tang.
Ah well, reattaching the blade takes priority to me. Any recommendations for the epoxy?
