Nice review. I filed the corners on my pommel as well when I got mine a few years back.

Thanks William!
A minor update after a little use and work, a wee shim broke free in the scabbard and I lost retention today! It was just a little plastic piece by the look of it, and took a bit of shaking to get out. I skived a piece of leather, glued it in and problem solved.

Nice review ! I've thought about this one myself a fair bit but never had the spare cash. Luckily I got the deepeeka 5 lobe stromlo was selling as an early Xmas present so now I have the sword to go with the spears, axes and seax :-)

Excellent review! Great job on the wrap. I really like the wide riser.

thanks y'all Sadly I wound up rewrapping the grip - the dye I used was a funny concoction I just happened to have lying around and it wound up somewhat multicolored. Went on green, came out purplish (as in the picture) and ended up having green, brown, purple and a hint of yellow! Bizarre. It has a hemp cord wrap now with turks head knots that I quite like - I'll post pics when dry! bigpete - I had the triple-lobed Deepeeka myself, it's not bad for such a low-cost sword. How do you like it?

I quite like mine it seems pretty solid, just working on sharpening it properly and giving it a spatulate tip. Feels a little blade heavy though, and the scabbard is pretty ordinary . Overall I'm pretty bloody happy with it though :-)

Nice reviw. Sorry about the necro, but i am curious if that thread around the pommel is removable or not? Is it a carved in thread look or is it a real thread that has been epoxied into place? Replacing it with gold would look quite nice.
