So I am looking at ordering a bare blade from Kult of Athena sometime: www.kultofathena.com/product.asp?item=OH2406&name=Hanwei+Tinker+Single+Hand+Sword+BladeHas anyone ever done a project like this starting with a ready to go blade? I don't know where to get the cross guard and pommel as I cannot make them. Are there any vendors out there that sell parts like these? Lastly the grip, does anyone have any tips for cutting the grip and such? I don't have a workshop so it may be pretty tough. Thanks for the help!

Here's a great Grip Making Tutorial by chrisperoni... and like Findlithui mentioned, you definitely will need tools for your project.

If you don't mind waiting around 3-4 months, I can help you out with custom bronze fittings (can't do steel at the moment). If you give me measurements, I can also help you 3d print a plastic grip core. You'll have to wrap it yourself but you don't really need a workshop to do that

Wellllll - I do this all the time . For fittings? Ernie at Yeshua's Sword is the go-to guy. Stunning quality. It is also possible to back-engineer many of the Darksword Armory fittings available at: darksword-armory.com/product/sword-fittings/Now - seriously.... you ARE going to need a workshop, and some tools. Assuming you had the bare blade and fittings a la DSA's offerings (I really like the Nomad fittings on that page), what sort of tools would the aspiring sword assembler want to have at the ready?
