I had my old PK done up similarly to that one, too, once, but found it a hassle to keep up with so I just tied it in the "typical" fashion and have left it alone since. I took the lazy approach with my old naoshi, which just looks like this: The only "unique" sageo I have going on is on my Musashi Zetsurin, which came the way it is; a somewhat abbreviated take on the "typical" approach: musashiswords.com/shop/product.php?productid=38&cat=0&page=1I don't use my swords, so I have no real use for the sageo. It's decorative on the swords that have it, and is not missed on the swords that don't. I could tie them up all fancy, but I don't have the patience for that anymore. I do quite like the bottom two, though. Much simpler and more efficient than what most swords come with.

Here is how I do mine, I intentionally left the sageo long to see the turtle pattern.

I tied one to try and represent the body and tail of a horse I had custom painted on a saya.

That purple one at the bottom must be extra long. Mine usually stay untied, I use my swords

And yes it is very nice and comfortable. If I did wear the traditional garments though, I would use the sageo as it was meant to tie to the obi. For me though I either just loosen my leather belt on my pants and stash the saya in there (it is never there long enough to justify tying the sageo to the belt), or more often just carry the sword griping the sageo and then set the saya down once I draw the sword.

Much like ineff, if I ever get the urge to put a sword on, it just get stuffed into my belt as-is; no fussing with sageo as per the traditional fashion. More often than not, I just put the saya down somewhere else while playing. Thus, I don't tend to do much with the sageo at all.
The only reason I changed my PK's sageo from the wrap like in the second-from-the-bottom sword was that it was too long when tucked into my belt. Also because it's just not a very secure weave, it wiggled and shifted a lot as I handled it and this annoyed me. This made me give up and tie it in the more typical fashion, and I've left it alone since.
Those that wear their swords properly, though, can have all kinds of fun playing with different styles.

I find that when I shove the saya in my belt the loops of my pant get in the way of a natural draw. (my arms are kinda short so i really do need to draw the saya from the blade) and so i usually just set her down as well, but i am always looking for a good place for it lol. Thanks for the info guys!

Can't say I've ever had that problem, but then again I've gotten really finicky about where my belt loops are. They have to be spaced just so or my knife and multi-tool won't sit right. Everything falls apart from there. I have only three pairs of jeans that have the "right" belt loop spacing. Anyway, you kids can keep posting fancy sageo stuffs now. I'll just sit back and admire it all~~

Some time when the Board members are down in the dumps and need a laugh, I should show how I tie my sageos. :-)
No, seriously, I leave the sageo tied the way the factory did it if I don't use the sword for kata. If I do, then when I re-tie, I like to tie the sageo with a couple loops first around the tsuka as a safety measure.
Especially for a sword where via poor habaki to koguichi fit, if I bend over to adjust my socks (ok...tabi to you guys), the sword slides right out of the saya.
(btw, a habit of grabbing the blade when it slides out puts new and interesting lines in my palm that makes for interesting changes in my predicted luck and social life courtesy the local palm reader. :-))
