Just a quick little review for a nice little monster of a sword - my new Cold Steel Warrior Ko-Kat!
I grabbed this baby at one of "Sword of Might"s promotions in november and managed to get it here to germany (UPS world express INCLUDED!) for 205,- Euros - thats about half of the amount what this thing would have cost me here (see how lucky you are, you american sword collecting b******s? )! Kudos to "swords of might".
So this little beast hold mostly the values and minuses from my Cold Steel Warrior Katana review considering fit & finish, fittings etc.; but there are some differences:
Here i would say myself that this swordie has nothing to do with japanese sword feeling; this little sucker feels like something that might have been made directly by Zombie Tools! When you take it in the hand you immediately get the feeling of something compact, tactical, solid and very dangerous! The VERY wide blade, the MASSIVE spine of the blade and fierce tip are very intimidating; i really consider to strap the beast of all japanese looking stuff and change it into something modern or fantasy...or maybe i have to sell it! My recent grab of a CF Borderwatch left me pretty broke...
Blade Length: 24 1/2"
Overall Length: 36"
Steel: 1055 Carbon
Weight: 37.1 oz
Handle: 11 1/2" Samé (Ray Skin) Handle w/ Black Braid & Brass Menuki
Actually i have no calipers to measure that immense thickness of the blade spine, but you can see its definitely thicker than on the regular Warrior Katana; theres also some distal taper which is not that recognizable on the Warrior Katana.
After all: i will definitely try cutting with this one; it feels like it could take on anything. And while maybe not being historically correct it could be a great project blade.
Greetings to all!
