Frankthebunny asked me if I was interested in reviewing the Iwa Shobu carried at www.cottontailcustoms.com. I of course said Yes. First video is of pictures I took Second video is of my cuts This was a fun sword to cut with despite how cold it was outside. Most of my comments are in the videos themselves, not much to say here. Thanks for letting me have the opportunity to test out this sword for you, frankthebunny.

I saw your (nicely done and complete) review video. Karma point for having honestly described pros and cons of that interesting sword! I must say I'm quite disappointed by the saya - using soft wood at that price range... imho, it's a shame. And concerning the "strange" line all along the blade : it reminds me of the ghost hamon on RDPs.

Thank you Nicole for the great review and cutting and especially for braving the cold like that. I admit I did feel a little bad for you as I was sitting here in Asheville on a sunny 70 degree day watching you cut with snow all around. Herman obviously was chilled to the bone. Thanks again

Awesome review, Nicole. Great cutting as well. You can definitely see the difference when someone has put in the hard work and practice. Thanks!

Great review and awesome cutting! In the review you point out that it is a thick blade and then during the cutting video you note that it cut the tatami effortlessly. That was my impression as well and I remember that it surprised me when I made my first cut. Very well designed blade. Also, I like the brown silk ito

You are welcome ! Yes it was a chilly day. Excuse the constant sniffling as my nose was dripping . Actually the only part of me that was cold were my hands as I had several layers on underneath my uniform. Poor Herman needed to bundle up and move around a bit. I sure could have used a 70 degree day. Jealousy. As for the Creepy Masked fellow, that was totally unplanned...I spotted that darkness around the mask in the background when I was editing and I HAD to keep that part in the video. Besides after he opened the door I was done anyway and the rest was just us cleaning up the mess. Yes! The first cut shocked me too, hence the slight pause . I knew the sword would change direction quickly as I had spent a couple days swinging it around before the cutting session but I was truly surprised at how easy it glided through.
