Might be helpful if you posted a link, because there are several trailers out now, so I have no idea which trailer you're referring to. I also didn't realize Elrond was going to be in Five Armies.

Thanks. As to your question, since we only get such a brief look at it, it's hard to tell whether or not it's a new sword, but I doubt it. The sword glimpsed in the trailer has lines similar to the sword Elrond was seen carrying in An Unexpected Journey, as well as the prologue to Fellowship of the Ring; it also roughly matches the sword provided with LotR action figures of Elrond that I can find on Google.
I think it may just look like a new sword, because this is really the first time we've actually seen it in motion, rather than in a scabbard or being held relatively statically.

It`s like a hand and a half/two handed hadhafang. Or maybe hadhafang itself?

I believe it's Hadhafang itself; according to the LotR wiki, Elrond used it in the prologue battle, and it can be seen on his hip in Unexpected Journey. Also, looking at this screenshot of Arwen holding Hadhafang in Fellowship, I'd say there's enough room for it to be used comfortably with two hands (unless you've got meat hooks):

What is ``Edhellen Katana?`` I guess you`re right. I did some research and it is Hadhafang most likely. Before he gave it to Arwen

Ok so let me get this straight. Peter Jackson dragged the hobbit out into four movies not three?

No, three films. An Unexpected Journey, The Desolation of Smaug, and The Battle of Five Armies.

IMO...Hadaphang is my least favorite elvish blade from the movies....I'm waiting for the Mirkwood Infantry Sword myself....too bad UC couldn't release a carbon steel version of it.

Agreed on all counts. I came here after seeing some pictures of the Mirkwood Infantry Sword the other day and that's still at the top of my wishlist, though.

I own the ummm "inspired" version of Hadhafang as can be seen in my avatar shot that comes from Fable Blades armory. Very nice sword if I may say so. Here is a bigger view of it.

It's Fable Blades, and what you have there is Aphrodite's regret. That is an early piece i had almost forgotten about. What is the OAL on that one?

Yah Fable Blades and this why I said "inspired" because I know it was called Aphrodite's Regret to be made along with a few other changes for legal reasons. Here is the specs from their page. www.fableblades.com/Aphrodite.htmlOverall Length is 39.1" which makes it a decently long blade.

I like some of his other stuff better, but that one still looks pretty good. His work is always fun to look at.

I like some of his other work too. Would like to get another piece, and am saving up slowly for one. Just takes awhile of saving to get something from there :)
Side note, the handle on mine is a bit longer than what is used by Arwen in the movie. With meat hooks for hands I can comfortably fit both my hands on it.

I've got little girly hands, so I've never had much of a problem with my hands being too large for grips. I tend to shorten most of my handles.
