So, I bought my wife a new Paragon Tommy Lee dagger recently - it arrived a couple of days ago. She loves it, except the Cocobolo wood on the handle looks like it's lower in quality from another similar one I'm selling (more on that later). When running your hand/fingers over the wood, you can feel the grain pattern is rough, with a few mini voids in it. Should I try to "fix it" or ask the company (not Paragon, another seller) for a replacement? I'll take pictures of the handle later, but here's a picture of the knife from Paragon's website. BTW, I have a very lightly used one just like it with the original box (sharpened it, never used to cut anything) for $90 plus $6 shipping. I'll post some pics later. Attachments:

Do you think a light coat of furniture polish or butchers wax might fill in the voids and give it a smoother finish? I'd ask for a replacement if you think it's faulty. Is it too rough for a woman's hand, or perhaps the rough grain actually provides a nice grippy texture?

The one I'm selling actually has a very nice and smooth finish - the new one, not so much. She doesn't like the texture caused by the voids, so I might just call up the company I bought from and ask for an RMA.

They're right here in my town, I gotta stop by and check out their wares.

Cool! They have really amazing knives, but like I said, the new one I got isn't really up to snuff. I don't know if Paragon or the company I bought it from dropped the ball on QC inspection since I've handled several Paragon knives, and this is the 1st one that I've had anything remotely negative to say about. The blades come super sharp from the factory, and the steel stands up very well during use. One thing about the Tommy Lee dagger - the handle is on the smaller side (fits my wife's hands perfectly), so it's a little small for me, and I don't have huge paws either.

Well, my wife really, really likes it, so she buffed the wood handles and it looks better now. I asked if she wanted me to return it for an exchange, she said "hell no! It's mine!"
