Thought I'd post this as an option for anyone in Australia that wants something similar to the Harbour freight 1x30 inch belt sander for sharpening their blades, bit more expensive than the HF model but it comes with a 5 inch disk sander as well ,(I've been looking at it for my ship modelling but the sharpening options a bonus ) www.hobbytools.com.au/benchtop-m ... 5-x-762mm/ disclaimer - I've got nothing to do with Hobby tools other than a long time happy customer!

i have one of these, its ok, though the belt slackness adjuster seems to do nothing, and i took the circular disk off the sander on the end of the machine, its in a rather bad spot for hands/knuckles/crossguards when you are sharpening a sword. rather jealous of the US guys and their $50 machines though

Are there any other options available in Australia? I know there are 2x72 sanders available, but from memory they start around $1500.
