Hey everyone, it has been a long, looong time since I wrote a review for SBG. Someone suggested that I start doing video reviews, I think they said it was easier than sitting down and writing an entire review? Lies, lies, nothing but lies... In any case, I took some pictures and videos and put together a review. I had so much fun I decided to start a new Youtube Channel and make this review the first of several. I'm calling the series "Sword Points," and hope to put a bunch of these video reviews out on the swords I have slowly accumulated but never got around to reviewing. So here it is, my first Sword Points review. Please watch, like, share, and do all that good social media crap we're supposed to do these days. Thanks for watching! Next time - the VA Kriegschwert!

Nice review, liked the extra info on the names of the blade, the yellow makes sense now being named after a deadly hornet! One suggestion especially regarding video reviews because they never do it would be to give details on the stats and components and do a few shots of them. Overall pretty cool idea with the Sword Points channel looking forward to the next review!

Actually, I have to take credit for naming the Katana the O-suzemebachi.. Back in 2011 I was teaching English at a school in rural Osaka prefecture and they had a nest of these beasts in the hills above the school. Every day I would get buzzed by one of these, often within inches of my face - the Japanese sensei would scoff at my suggestion that I had been singled out, until one of them sitting near me outside saw it come in and buzz me and his bravery evaporated. I did some research and if anything got more nervous - the Japanese saying is "one sting is hurts like a bullet, the second sting is fatal" and I learned that when they attack (stinging repeatedly) they release a pheromone that calls the rest of the hive in to attack too! What is worse is that they are highly intelligent, and apparently can recognize human faces, so I am 99% sure that the one that would buzz me on my lunch break took great delight in tormenting the weird looking gaijin who was clearly different than all the other people - needless to say, it kept me in my place! Luckily I never got stung, you can hear them coming from 50feet away - but it would dive bomb me and rapidly circle around my head. Apparently taking a swing at one will REALLY annoy them and cause an attack, the key to not being stung is not to move, don't wear black (it makes them mad), don't wear cologne (it makes them mad) and don't be the only gaijin that sticks out when everyone else is in uniform and Japanese..! Ahh, that buzzing sound brings back some memories.. Ok, sorry to hijack the thread but thought I would share why I named this sword after a hornet.. 'Tis no ordinary hornet, one of the sensei called it "侍の心がある虫よ" - "Bug with a Samurai Spirit!" as they are fearless, loyal to the hive (except when the queen dies, then they get drunk on nectar until they die and are unpredictable). And as a side note, the sword itself is no longer in production and I don't teach at that school anymore either. You only see them in the towns, so they say.. But I guess I got so paranoid I developed a radar and have spotted ONE in Osaka city.. Next sword in the series, the MUKADE! (kidding, haven't seen these thankfully, but Osuzumebachi motifs in swords do have historical precedent.

Damn that is crazy. You'd think coming from Australia they wouldn't seem that big of a deal but these things sound nasty, so do those Japanese garden vipers (can't remember their names) they're pure evil looking too. You'd think the towns and cities would kill these off or relocate them since there so dangerous, they must have a small population country wide.
