Hi I'm new here and from what I see this is the place I need to come to for my problem. I got a cheap..and I do mean cheap old flea market double edge short sword, the pommel fell off because the inside stripped bare on it's own and the hilt and cross guard fell away and got lost when I moved out of my old house. I wanna make a new cross guard, hilt and pommel for it since it has sentimental value to me as I got it from my mother. The problem is I'm very new to fixing my own blades and have no clue what to do to fix it, I was thinking of carving the cross guard, hilt and a small pommel out of wood and then threading the pommel. I want something simple just so I don't have a hilt-less sword around since then it becomes dangerous to hold outside of it's leather sheath. Can anyone help or point me to a topic that already helps me out? I'd appreciate any help I can get thanks.

though if you are interested in swords, I would recommend you also buy a new functional one

Yeah I would but right now I'm really broke so no good quality for me right now. Like I said I wanna fix it up mostly since it has sentimental value to me, thanks for the link btw!

You could also put a "wanted" in the buy and sell and ask if someone has project leftovers.
Ps. pictures would be helpful also.
