Hello,
I am new to this forum, but read a lot of threads already as guest. I'm currently looking for a katana, which will be used for Iaido mostly. Some Tameshigiri (bamboo mats only) will also be done. As I am a student of a Japanese Ryuha, i need a sword, which has a suited geometry.
I was looking to buy a Huawei and let it customize. But I only found sites, where tsuka will be remade. Are there any providers, offering services for full customization aof swords in shirasaya. If there, what will be the pricing approx. ?
What do you guys think will be best: Getting a sword and only customize tsuba for better fitting, getting a sword remounted in shirasaya or get a more expensive standard sword?
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to SBG! Customizing a katana from shirasaya can be extremely costly. I'd recommend getting a sword from huawei-sword on eBay made to your specs. You can find a sword in stock and have it modified to your liking, or contact them for a full custom job. stores.ebay.com/huaweiswordsIf you are set on getting a shirasaya done, then perhaps contact Josh at cottontailcustoms.com. He is known as frankthebunny here. He had ceased taking full out workups for the most part, but he may be able to help.

So, then it would be best to ask for a semi custom at huawei with a good blade and the rewrap the tsuka?
Or does anyone know about their tsuka quality? This should be the weak point in their swords, or not?

FranktheBunny at Cottontail Customs has lots of experience with Huawei - PM him or check out his website.
