Hello everyone,
I will be in Taiwan in about two weeks. I'll be staying there for awhile. I'm wanting to visit as many quality sword smiths as possible. I know of two in Taiwan so far. Chen Tian Yan (deceased) and Kuo Chang Shih. I've heard that both make (or made) quality authentic swords. I would appreciate it if anyone can comment on any first hand experience with these smiths.
Also, are there any other quality smiths in Taiwan? I heard there were quite a few more, but havnt heard any names. I would think with Taiwan's vast wealth of Chinese history stored on the island, there would be alot more than China.
thank you.
Phillip

Sorry for being late. As you know Chen is gone several years, his sons still run his little museum. Guo is semi-retired, but also has his own little museum; not much to be seen in his old workshop. I know several more Taiwanese sword smiths, but they all have set up shop in mainland China 8cheap labor), only coming back for exhibitions. If you want to see much in one place, go to Longquuan, where you find cheap souvenirs en mass, but also high level repros in all categories. Forge Wangzihao would be a good starting point.
