The A&A French Rapier looks interesting.
French Rapier Function and beauty vie for top billing on this splendid example of Norman's Type 52 rapier hilt. The sinuously curved hilt and wire-bound grip would have been a declaration of good taste from the earliest examples of this rapier style, appearing in the 1540's. This example is mounted with a stout blade, able to deliver a thrust or a cut, and not diminishing the elegance of the weapon. The functionality of this piece should not be overlooked. Gentlemen were the first to carry such swords, but all classes quickly adapted to this handsome type of weapon for personal defense and swordplay. The pommel is of an ovoid form in profile and oval in cross section. The inner guard is set with two bars flowing into one from the arms of the hilt and anchored at the base of the hilt block.
Overall length: 48"; Blade: 40.5" x 1.07"

I've heard good things mostly about the french, only complaint I heard was it was a little too cut-flavored for some people's taste.

These A&A rapiers look great. I'm really tempted to order one, but I should wait till x-mas, so I can think a little bit more about if it should be a German, a French or the Italian three ring rapier. Another source for handmade rapiers is Cervenka in Czech: www.sword.cz/rapiers.htmPrices starts slightly under 600 Euros and you have to wait a few months till the sword is made, details have to be arranged with the smith. Got a Saxonian Rapier (Cat.-Nr. 200025) and I'm still happy with it.

Have you looked at Danelli Armouries? www.danelliarmouries.com/index.php/custom-swords/rapiers?limitstart=0I've been looking for a sword that comes close to the one Viggo Mortensen uses in the movie Alatriste. So far Danelli's Espada Ropera comes closest. But I'm staying to like the pappenheimer models too Edit: that leafy one looks nice. Arma Bohemia? Thanks for the lead

A while back Darkwood had a left hander up in their in stock items, noting that they have in fact seen them in museums, so, the did exist. Odd, since one Spanish fencing master notes that if you're left handed, you should be especially grateful to your fencing master, as not only did he teach you to fence, but to be right handed.
