Here's the latest short sword I'm forging. Starterd with a piece of 5160 steel 17in long, 1 3/4in wide 214in thick. Foruming in the point. Point kind of forumed. Foruming the tang. Tang mostly forumed. Drawing out the blade. Here the blade is mostly did, from a 17in piece of steel it's now as a 21in long, 1 1/2in wide, 3/16in thick blade. Bet you thought thisd was going to be another double edge short sword from the being pictures. Still have alot more forging work to do to it, mainly hammer in the bevels. It will get a little longer and wider.

I'm thinking about giving it a false edge. For the guard maybe just a simple S guard or a d guard. The wood for the handle just let the wife use whatever she feels like inless a customer request something. This one hasn't got a owner yet.

Did the rough grinding at 50 grit before I harden and temper it. Here it is after the quench. I have it tempered and I'll start grinding in the bevels these coming days off.

you better be careful Drigs, seeing this curvy lil bastard might just get me thinking of another project!! I am really quite happy to see you doing a curved blade. If you think you can muster up enough hate, bile, vitriol and spite, i might have an idea for you real soon, but your gonna have to be willing to make it NAASTY. This one looks great so far, and at 3/16 thick, it might make a hell of a chopper!

As long as it's a short blade I think I'm up for it.

Started grinding in the bevels on this sword, have it sanded to 120 grit right now. Won't be much longer until I have it ready for Jeri to put the handle on. The picture makes it look like a skining knife right now. You can't tell the size of it. Doesn't look like a 21in blade.

Still working out how to do D guard right, going to sale this one cheap any ways. Maybe I'll do better on the next d guard. Got a tig welder now just have to re teach myself how to use it. Been a lot of years since I've tig welded like 30.
I was thinking more Pirates of the Caribbean too. Kind of a cross between a sabre and cutlass.
