I've seen a couple good comments about Ryansword's newer work. Hopefully you got one of the good ones. As long as you like it, that's the most important thing.

Huh I'm not much into Japanese swords but I quite like that ! Just had a look on their site,I reckon I'd like one of their "naginata" swords dressed up like the tactical one,as well as the normal one ,sort of like an oversized tactical daisho :-)

Nice, though my biggest thing is the wood parts-a new type sword should have some kind of synthetic instead of wood.
The copper rivets...meh,are they removable? if so then I'd be okay with it as I could just make replacements.
If you're not handy with tools then I could see it being a pain in the butt.

I just received a ryansword custom katana and let me tell you its built incredibly well. I did some light box cutting and that was no problem for the sword. I know its not much of a test but I will test it more soon.
The fittings and overall tightness, balance and feel of the sword is awesome. I think they are producing quality blades.
By the way I am comparing it to my 9260 no-bohi huawei katana and to be honest the Ryan sword feels just as good in the hand.

Just an FYI on why Ryan swords have the rep they do here on SBG. It isn't that they are bad swords, just overpriced for the quality they offer typically. Though I guess early on quality was pretty shoddy too.

What always put me off about ryanswords was that every time somebody reviewed one, they never reviewed ONE...it was always two, bought at around the same price ($150-250 usually), and every time one would be pretty lousy "but hey, what do you expect for $XXX? I'm satisfied!" and the other would be "pretty good" (as defined by the reviewer) and "Absolutely amazing for $XXX! I'm way pleased!" Every. Single. Time.Oh and general eBay vendor stuff like shoddy business practice, inaccurate advertisement, general low-quality...everything...the usual. Whether or not they've improved and are now selling perfectly adequate swords at very reasonable prices, I'll never bother to pick one up because I'm just tired of hearing about them.

I'm tired of you always calling out "childish bashing" when somebody mentions a poor experience with what is apparently your favorite seller. Doesn't really change your life, though, does it? You like your stuff, good. I don't. Fine. Look how happy we both are in our respective positions, ain't it grand?
