I think I'm doomed, got my first "Real" weapon just over a week ago ,(a Hanwei short bearded axe),and keeping with the theme I've just spent a chunk of my tax return on a Deepeeka 5 lobed Viking Sword same as the one here viewtopic.php?f=10&t=17089&hilit=deepeeka+5+lobed+viking+swordSeems to be an ok blade from what I've read and as a bonus I really like the look of it ,it looks exactly like what its supposed to be ,a lean efficient weapon of war. Should have it in the next couple of days ,can't wait

I still haven't finished sharpening mine...

Today's chapter is titled "Why does plan A always suck?"... Just spent the morning hand filing an edge onto my sword with a whacking great draw file despite saying I wasn't going to do it ,turns out my Dad didn't ever think there'd be a requirement to put an edge on a nearly meter long Viking sword when he set up his workshop so there wasn't enough room to use the bench grinder (personally I think it's poor planning on his part but oh well ) Hard parts done now it's time for the real sharpening to begin - I'll be happy with a paper cutting edge but aiming for a shaving one like my knives.

Well a bench grinder was a bad idea any ways.

Nice looking sword. Looks like they used pigskin on the scabbard, does it feel as nice as it looks?

Worked out for the best ,just my spine hates me today for all the twisting yesterday while filing,(got enough metal in my lower back to make a small knife ) I wondered what type of leather it was ,didn't look like cow.It does feel nice in the hand though.
