Sword cutting nick

Hello everyone. Not sure if I am posting this in the right forum or not, but I have a cutting and sword maintenance question. I had purchased a Valiant Armoury Bristol sword about two years back. Have cut water bottles on more than one occasion with it and really enjoy myself every time, especially when I make a cut that looks and, "feels," good. I always dry the blade and wipe it down with wd-40 before putting it back on the shelf. Was cutting with it today and everything was going good with the first 5 cuts then I happened to strike a cap with poor edge alignment. Upon examining my blade when I was cleaning it I held it up to the light and could see that I put a very tiny nick in my edge probably 1/64th an inch or smaller. Not a huge deal or anything taking into account that I once accidentally hit the wood of my cutting stand and no damage occurred. Was just wondering if there was an easy way to remove the nick without changing the edge geometry and balance of my sword. I am familiar with the sharpening of knives and and reshaping axe edges with a file, but I am a little leary of doing anything to my prized sword. I haven't done anything to try and hone the edge since I got it almost two years ago, because Sonny did such a wonderful job sharpening it and I haven't felt the need to change it before. But was wondering if there was anyone out there who might give some good advice and firsthand experience on this subject. Any advice is welcomed and thanks for reading.
