Hey all, I have an Atrim type XII that I use for light cutting (water bottles, milk jugs) and recently I've noticed a bit of wiggle on the crossguard. It doesn't move on it's own during cutting or dry handling, but with light/medium pressure it will move sideways in both directions, causing it to be misaligned with the blade. If you look closely, you can see a little "groove" that the blade has made in the top of the guard (no doubt due to the blade being harder steel than that used in the furniture). My first question is, how can I remedy this? It's not really a big deal, but it irks me slightly and I'd prefer all of the hilt components to be completely solid with no movement at all. Secondly, I'm assuming that any tightening of the hilt components would involve some work on the pommel nut, but I'm unsure what kind of nut is used on my particular assembly. I'm assuming that it's some kind of threaded assembly as with most (all?) Atrims, but there is no space for a hex key or screwdriver... it''s simply a solid nut protruding from the pommel. It's also completely round, meaning a wrench cannot be used to either loosen or tighten it. Pictures of everything below... any advice is appreciated! Attachments:

you could try the fishing line trick, by wrapping it between the guard and the grip ,or grip and pommel, once u get it all lined up. if you really want to remove the nut the vice grips would be your best friend id think, i have had swords with nuts like that on the end, sure, the vice grips chew it up a bit , but its the only way i have found to remove them with out cutting them off. hope this offers a little help

Yeah, I posted it in the beginner's forum as well and got basically the same advice. Vice grips with something soft between the grips and the nut so as to not dent or scratch it. Going to give that a shot, thanks!
