So I am in the market for a shorter seax (maybe 6-8"'blade), but don't really know where to start. Are there any good production manufacturers with reasonably historically accurate seaxes, or do you have to go custom? Which custom makers do you recommend?
I'm much more of a sword guy, but I'd like to get a good seax/sax for a kit I'm putting together.

If you can get it, I would recommend a Paul Binns seax. But I think Paul doesn't take new orders right now, and it is hard to find a second hand one. Owen Bush would be my next choice.

Just finish up one with a 8in long x 7/8in wide blade , or I can make one like you want.

How much do you want to spend? Owen Bush, Petr Florianek, Jake Powning and plenty others can make you a historically accurate and beautifully pattern welded seax. That's gonna cost though...

Another highly recommended maker would be George Ezell... also pricey but you sure get your money's worth.

Thanks for the recos and PMs everyone! I have to hold off on this for a few weeks, but when the time I like the idea of getting one made by someone here.
