Hey all, I'm new here, and I'd like to post a project I've been working on the better part of the last 8 months. I've finally gotten it to a point where I feel it's good enough to show as it's nearly 100% finished. I've created a mini blog/website showing a ton of pics and information for the sword as well as my concept art (created in 3D studio Max and photoshop). I would love to get some feed back on it from you guys. It's not meant to be functional, (you'll be able to see that right off the bat!). I use the term Great Sword as it refers to a category of over-sized swords found in most MMO and fantasy video games. This sword is 64" in length. It's created from 6061-T6 to minimize weight/maximize potential costuming applications. It's got a very blunt false edge (but an unintentionally sharp tip!). It weighs in at 5.5 lbs so as far as swinging a Great Sword goes, it's something you can actually swing with ease. It's my first time making something like this, but after many years of wanting to do it, I finally saved the money up to make it in the fashion I've always wanted, i.e. with machine/precision in nearly every facet, with hand finishing where needed /such as the blade and grip. Thanks for looking and I hope to hear your thoughts! Blog/Website: www.versionz.com/ag/-AG Edit: I decided to add in a few more concept images from my site.

Hey, thanks for checking it out! I will keep track of how quickly the finish dulls, if it dulls visibly from what it is now. From what I understand the oxidized layer forms nearly instantly then oxidization stops after a very small layer of oxide forms.

Good quality aluminium polish will leave a protective layer that may help to retain the shine..

i like the one with a pointed tip, the graem. I get the impression from the design that these are hard-swing swords, not dueling swords
