I purchased this knife from a random seller who said it just happened to be at the bottom of a box of other knives he purchased and he never got around to researching it so he sold it for really cheap. Because of that, I don't expect it to be very special; it's just a really interesting design in my opinion for a folding knife, it would just be nice to have some information on it. Any help or speculation would be greatly appreciated. (I know the last one is really bad quality, but I can't get a better pic of the Pakistan engraving with my current camera.)

Sorry, can't tell you much about this particular knife, but I've seen a number like it and enjoy the novelty immensely. That said, yours looks pretty neat for a random Pakistani knife.
I have a folding "bowie"-type knife from Pakistan, myself, but yours looks to at least be marginally better quality than mine. I especially like the swing-out guard.
Lots of knives running the gamut of quality come out of Pakistan, hard to say whether one is any good without using it I think if you cleaned yours up a bit, it might look a little better .

It's a modern copy of a German folding bowie. The German originals I've seen date to the early 20th century. Late 20th century would usually be from India or Pakistan. These days, there are also Chinese-made ones.

Aha, I thought it looked familiar. I can only think of a couple of Spanish models I've seen recently, but I do remember having seen a few German models, and being quite fond of them. Been a while. Here's a quick, random, modern example: www.worldknives.com/products/hub ... -1646.html Here's an antique, unfortunately sold: www.michaeldlong.com/Catalogue/E ... Knife.aspx Pricey stuff. Not sure if I should thank or curse Timo for the reminder... :x

I didn't know that they were still making them in Germany. Might be able to get a reasonable antique for the same price.
I'm happy with my cheap Chinese one.

I'd certainly be content with a repro, even a knockoff. Those are pretty knives, but wow, that's a bit much for novelty alone. I'll just stick with a fixed blade at that point. :x

That one's not too shabby, I'll watch it and see where it goes. I found this one, too, but it's sold out: www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/ma ... -6709.html Don't know anything about the Marble's brand, but for about $75-80 US that's not bad. I'd have to get rid of that logo, though. Some other big folders for giggles: www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/jo ... -1136.html www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/mu ... -2255.html www.filofiel.com/tiendaonline/mu ... -7325.html Going to keep looking for repros of the German model, though, as so far it's my favorite. Edit: A few more leads, possibly, for repros. Found another seller listing the same knife Timo linked, this time Buy it Now for about $10 more, which honestly I'd take to a bid wait any day. www.ebay.com/itm/12-Vintage-Styl ... 1c3e08c2da I also happened across another Pakistani model here: www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-Pakista ... 5407d4137f Here's the Marble's model again, this time on Atlanta Cutlery, for less, with better pictures: www.atlantacutlery.com/p-3097-ma ... bowie.aspx No idea what this thing is, but hey, $12. Sold out, though. www.heavenlyswords.com/product.p ... ctid=31265 I intend to keep looking, but later. It's getting to be past my bedtime...

Oh okay, that's pretty cool actually XD I like a few of those modern ones, I'll probably keep an eye out for a shiny one. Yeah I've already started cleaning off the blade and getting the marks off, and I'll probably put a new stain on the grip. It actually feels incredibly sturdy in the locked position, so it's good enough quality for me haha. And after looking at all the examples, I'm happy that A: Mine doesn't have any "Stainless Steel" or country marks on the actual blade, B: the Pakistan mark is one of their older ones so it's an olderish fake, and C: it's got a cooler blade shape. Plus it's on the cheap side of the group Thanks guys. Let me know if you find any more good listings? Lol

Also, it's interesting that none of the others have that thumb release on the side mine does... they all have it on the swing guard except for one of em.

I did some more googling the next day after my last post, but couldn't find anything more than that Marble's or the one Timo linked. The Hubertus is probably the prettiest of what I found, but $300 is a bit much for me, for this particular knife. I might pick up one like Timo linked, nice and cheap, but will of course be under no illusions or expectations of any amazing quality as I'm sure the Hubertus may offer. Post some post-cleanup shots of yours if you get around to it.
