Here's my latest customization project in progress. It's my Raptor wak that I posted here few months ago with steel wire ito. Steel ito turned out to be too slippery so I decided to redo it with leather string. It's not finished yet but here's how it looks now: (Monkey menukis and the adornment on saya are from Monkey Shoulder whiskey bottle.) I'm going to make some decorative flower and vine ornaments on the blade. This is just a quick sketch but you'll get the idea: So my actual question is this. What do you suggest, should I carve the ornaments or etch them or what? Thanks. Side note: On another thread I was asking suggestions on budget wakizashi for customization project. I didn't get many answers so if you have any ideas please let me know.

Thanks Chris, great links. I'll check them out thoroughly.
First I was about to engrave it as to practice making "horimono",(though I'd carve it really shallow). But now I think it might look great if I just blued it with gun bluing liquid.
Oh, and all comments on customization project so far are most welcome.
