you're going to end up with people posting/talking in both threads. The way to do this is to keep one thread and have the OP edit his OP. Change the title of the OP to "LIST OF SWORD VENDORS - SEE 1ST POST". Then briefly advise at the top of the first post that people will continue to post replies into this thread, and periodically the OP will review and add new vendors to the OP. As mentioned, it's his idea and he wants to keep an eye on it. Any instructions have to be at the very start/top of the 1st post ,before the list, or they will be missed; for the same reason the thread title needs to tell people to go to the start to see the whole list. Instructions have to be short and sweet - even your instructions now on the OP are too detailed. Just ask people to:
post the vendor name/website country sword types sold
-any more instruction and it won't be followed anyway...
Think of how the classifieds sub-forum has two areas where people can post items for sale, however only one section is actually titled ITEMS FOR SALE - people miss this and post in both places all the time -- that's what will happen here if we have one thread for just the list, and another about the list. Same thing always ends up happening on UBC when we have one thread about a new contest, and another for the actual contest entries.

TheMu and I have discussed via pm and is ok with the list. The idea is to have a pure list without comments for the ease of the members. Not sure what's confusing but you have the idea of it. I only need the Vendor name and site, the country/continent they are located and the type of blades they carry.
Submissions should be posted on this thread.

Oh, there are some I havn't known yet. Here are two more from Germany: Japanische Schwert Galerie (Nihonto) Stahlwarenhaus Hebsacker (all styles) That list doesn't look very happy to me. A vendor who offers the 3 styles has to be posted in every category. And if he offers more styles than the 3, new cats have to be added. I'd list the vendors by country. Although I always buy round the globe and havn't any problems with that, I'd prefer to get my stuff next door. A brief note of the styles one offers makes sense too.

You're right about the categories. I'm already looking to add a Fantasy category and thinking about altering Oriental to Oriental with a sub category for Japanese blades.
I believe most collectors/practitioners generally shop by blade style which is the reason for type of sword then country. Many of the members try to refrain from buying or selling overseas due to foreign laws, shipping costs and taxes. As to the vendor who carries multiple types, I planning on representing them in each category. The whole purpose is to make searching easier for the searcher.
As to the question of a notation of styles offered, that can be added after I get the list up and running. If we (the members here) do decide on a notation, it should be an unbiased notations on blades carried.

There is also Seven Star's Trading - US www.sevenstarstrading.com/site/Chinese Known by 2 names, offering stock and custom Jkoo and Sinosword - China www.sinosword.com/Japanese and Chinese I know this is supposed to be production, and this vendor is custom but with the lack of functional Chinese swords this might want to be included. Occasionally they do have premade ready to buy swords. JinShi - Canada www.jin-shi.com/Chinese

BTW you do know there is a vendor list page of SBG, right? Paul's recommended vendors. www.sword-buyers-guide.com/swords-online.htmlIt might be worth going through that list, as well as the international lists at the bottom of the page. Not to mention it should be worth mentioning the SBG sword store in the list. I mean we are on the SBG forum, and SBG sword store helps keep the forum running. SBG US/China sbg-sword-store.sword-buyers-guide.com/index.htmlJapanese, European, Fantasty With SBG they mention shipping from US warehouses, but their main office is Hong Kong.

I have no issue with that, and it is nice to see you openly admit your affiliation, we have had a few people not be so honest. There is nothing wrong with folks in the industry joining SBG as long as they are honest with us about such affiliation.
If you plan to stick around SBG and discuss your shop you might want to request a vendor title.

Albion and Armor Class, much like Arms and Armor whom I was about to mention, are manufactures and not straight up vendors. I'n not sure they belong on a vendor list unless we modify it to include smiths and cult. If you'll be including manufacturers tun I can think of a bunch off hand to add.

Good Idea Mike, Works for me,. One of the categories will be custom so direct buy manufactures is a good way to go.
This is meant to be a source list so any other suggestions are appreciated.
