That's looking good Saito... will the sword be a longsword? I'm interested to see how the bronze casting goes. Bronze has such a cool look to it but seems difficult to work with.

That's really good for a first attempt! How much do you reckon it'll cost to have the foundry cast them for you? I might try making some furniture myself.

More progress..started the Guard/Bolster since the local hobby shop was closed and i couldn't get any mold making rubber. Got one side faceted, next will facet the other side, then fit everything to the tang.

I could have, but that would require having my grinder up and running, and trying to pay a machine shop to mill out the tang slots because i dont have a mill (local machine shops are very greedy and it would cost about 150$ just for the slots) So i opted to cast the slots are already there and just need minor hand filing for final fit. by the way brenno, i think maybe your Orcrist was the inspiration to this customers design...that pommel design is damn sexy.

You do not forge Bronze... not realy.. Casting is the way Bronze has been done in the very begining of the Bronze age... SanMarc....

forging it still wouldnt fix the issue about having to mill tang slots. its a heck of a lot easier to put slots in a piece of wax than a 3 inch thick piece of solid metal. hah

Tinker never used a milling machine - just a drill press. It can be done - and bronze is pretty easy to drill and file. My Anduril pommels I get from Jeffrey are 12cm long and solid cast. I drill them from each end to meet in the middle, as I can't ever get a hole to drill dead straight. Then I use a round file to straighten out the hole. I mill a slot 1/2 wide into the base side about 4cm deep, but you could drill and then dremel them into a slot. Quicker than waiting for castings, or saving up for a mill, and you get to keep all the $$$$ for yourself :-)
Besides, working with Jeffrey all these years I can guarantee you that casting three inch long tang slots is not a simple task - theres a very high chance of failure from a variety of causes (broken hollow ceramics, cavitation, sunken bronzes, stuck tang blanks, etc), and that you may need to start your waxes again if you don't have moulds for them. There can be massive complications, and best case scenario you'll still need to file it out to some degree.
Not trying to bust your balls, just warning it's not likely to go the way you imagine, from experience.
