Hey folks
I finally got my Hanwei Banshee which was on back order at Swords of the East. If you were looking for one but unable to find any, they are back and in stock at SWOTE and other stores.
There are other Banshee reviews on this site which are much better than what I can do at the moment. I just wanted to share a great find on ebay which replaced the cheap plastic strap you get with the Banshee.
I opened the banshee, and upon handling the plastic strap for the first time, a rivet popped out....and I hadn't even used it yet!

I saw an excellent post by someone who made a great DIY strap using paracord, here:

I knew I would need something like this. I looked on ebay and found this:
www.ebay.com/itm/550-Mil-type-OD ... 338687ffb9
These are 52" long. They are handmade in the USA by Casey's Creations. That for me, that is a BIG selling point. I'm all about supporting small Americans businesses. I knew I would need to replace the split rings and single snap hook that comes with this model, so I contacted the seller. I asked for a custom lanyard with HK clips. For a few bucks more it was made up and sent to me.
The parts used are high quality and the strap works perfectly for me, I am 6' 1", have a longer torso than most, and the sword hangs right at my hip bone. The lanyard is not adjustable, but you may be able to get a custom length.
Only a slight problem: the HK clips which I requested were too big for the Banshee's sheath attachments. Casey foresaw this and included some extra cord for an attachment, but I wanted something more durable. I also wanted to keep the hookup as simple as possible as I plan on using this in the bush. I decided the use a dremel to alter the HK clips. This ruined the appearance of the clips, but I'm all about practicality over beauty.
However it turned out that the shape of the clips just do not allow free movement on the sheath attachments. If a clip got locked and and weight was applied, the attachment could get pried off the sheath. So I ended up using small split rings.
50+ feet of 550 mil type III paracord
Despite my attempt to make the HK clips fit, I realized I needed split rings
If you like it, contact Casey. The business name is Casey's Creations. The ebay name is c2zinn. Outside of ebay, the email is paracordcrafters@yahoo.com!
If you like my version and don't mind split rings, tell 'em "mudhen144 sent me".
However I'm sure they would be willing to accommodate most requests.
**Unrelated to the strap, I noticed that the collar on the sheath was dulling the blade at its widest point. I made more room for the blade using the dremel to fix this.
