Dose anyone know if it is legal to import rapiers into Western Australia. Do they count as a double edge sword ?

Full size Rapiers and double edged swords are ok to import mate. It's the daggers that need a permit. If you are not sure say on a matching main gauche, ask Customs direct.

Most rapiers will count as a double-edged sword, but should be fine. The "single-edged sword" is specified on the Customs website www.customs.gov.au/site/page4372 ... eaponsList because it's hard to be specific as to whether something is a double-edged sword or a dagger without coming up with an arbitrary cut-off length between the two categories. AFAIK, they don't have "double-edged sword" in the "not subject to control" list so that people don't get over-excited about importing daggers. Last I heard, WA didn't have any Victorian-style sword restrictions. If you don't know, check. But should be no problem with Customs. Depending on where it comes from, you might have a problem with shipping costs!
