Here is a fantastic Falchion comparison created by J.G. Elmslie. The amount of variation is massive with some weird and wonderful there, especially interesting are the Falchions where only the short/false edge is sharpened, making it look a bit like a funky Kopis. Personally the slender Falchions with the clipped seax point are what rocks my boat. This image is massive, so please right click and view image to see it in its entirety.

I seriously considered having A&A make me a custom version of that Castillon Falchion (Royal Armoury, Leeds- IX.5409) but recreating that piece was going to be so expensive that I went with something else. I bet they could have done a great job on that falchion. Attachments:

Yes and the guy who runs it hates this site.

Thats not a bad website at all, quite good for casual browsing as I found some interesting stuff that I haven't seen before. Thanks for the link!

I would agree; it's slightly off topic, but I found perhaps the only antique representation of a Type F pommel through that site a couple months back.

He hates everyone except himself. Bill Blake the Sword Site owner has been banned from here and MA and maybe others. His basis for starting his site was specifically that SBG and MA were run by tyrants who put out wrong information to sword people and were given free swords by Albion to promote them. He hates Albion and says Peter Johnsson is a fraud and a bunch of other rubbish. Cannot recommend his site but that is just my personal opinion. It is almost a slap in the face to recommend his site here but not against the rules.

I won't tell anyone to go to his site because of all the things he's said about SBG, My Armory and the 2 sites members.

I had no idea of his history here. regardless of all that he has some excellent pictures and stats and info on antiques. some of his categorization by Oakeshott type I might argue with but other than that I don't see a problem.
Here's a thought though: if we are too good to appreciate good information anywhere we find it, then maybe he has a point about us. Just saying. I don't care two figs about him one way or the other but he has good info at his place that I have seen nowhere else. sorry for the de-rail I don't really have anything falchiony to bring this back unless it is to say that I've seen better pictures of the Thorpe (the inspiration for my favorite falchion) there than anywhere.

From what I seen on his site if you disagree with him he bans you from the site. I went to it when he first started it, disgreed with him got banned. From what I've seen he just self promotes, he's a expert no one elses opinon matters.
He's deleted all this rants agiasnt this site and MA. Should have seen all the bad comments he make agianst several members and the pictures he posted. After seeing all this it really is a slap in the face to recommens this site here.

Past actions, honesty and integrity can be overlooked I suppose if it is not important to some. This seems to be common in the sword industry from a small percentage of makers, vendors and much in-between.
Please continue discussion of falchions to keep this thread on track or I will have to prune it.
