You mean.... NOT Brenno? BLASPHEMY! ;D lol, great designs there, mate! I'll have to take a look at that 'Dijk' guy. I've never heard of him before, is he an Aussie-based smith? -Slayer

Not an aussie based smith no, he is a New Zealander. The reason I am going with him is because Brendan doesn't do pattern welded yet. His exhibit is here; www.arscives.com/mastersofire/exhibits.htmDisplayed along with the likes of Zhou zheng wu and ono yoshimitsu, also jake powning and a list of other well known and highly regarded smiths. I came across his website, realised the Australian dollar was stronger than the NZD and now I'm just waiting for a quote before I decide if I go ahead.

Right here comes a bunch of new designs; First a sabre I have been fiddling with for goodness knows how long This one is nicknamed the dragon for obvious reasons; the next one is what I like to think of as a khopesh sabre with the name oakleaf; here is oakleaf from a front on view; details of the leaf that gives oakleaf its name; this next one, your guess is as good as mine, I started drawing and it just kind of flowed; my attempt at a shamshir based fighting knife; this next one is an attempt at drawing the blade from the Heath Ledger series ROAR which I really enjoy; details of the roar crossguard; and the two hander labelled rose thorn;

dood bloodwraith i myself have been struggling myself with making a U Blade pole-arm. Then it hit me the other day. mount two ditch blades opposed on a square tubing pole. then i thought, why not just make it a trident with the sqaure tubing pyramid welded at the tip for a spear. dont get me started about the 5 trailer hitch balls at the other end for a rediculous pommel. lol. the one that i designed is going to be pretty heavy. but dont get me wrong i could make really light ones too.

Right so thought I would do a brief update, my drawings are nowhere near the standards of some people but thought others might be interested. If you can't sleep draw I guess; One was a design based on a knife from oblivion one of my friends is interested in this sort of blade. The other one was somewhat inspired by luna and a few other sources including imagination. I need to pen some of these in, the camera has a hard time picking them up.

Hey, BW. I hope it's not bad form to add my own artwork to your design thread and if it is I'll kick it elsewhere, but your "Rose Thorn" idea sparked my creativity and I wanted to show you my vision of your idea

That is friggin awesome... aside from something like what BB does where it is cast, or being made out of wood as Brenno did on a couple swords, how would you do that?

Heh! No problems Violent, though I find it funny that my poor little thread is getting attention for your design and not the ones I've done, but that is ok lol I'm no lunaman in terms of drawing. That is a really nice design, I would think bronze casting would be the best option for it, you might with a bit of creativity be able to sculpt it out of steel or something. Definitely one I might have to lay claim to if I ever have the money to commission BroB, not sure what it is but I am in love with roses at the moment.

While it would be AWESOME looking if cast by BB, I think that would make it to heavy for your taste, given your prefrence for light blades.

yeah that is half the problem with bronzes mate and why I've never pursued that route, even though they are exquisite.
