Hi Paul Just have to say thanks for operating this site. It's giving me alot of insite to the world of swords, Which I have loved all my life but haven't really found the time to explore in detail like your site offers. I wish I found it before I bought a sword so I could compare them better, I just got a Msahiro Masakage yesterday it seems well made and sharp. Do you or anybody on this site have any information on this sword good or bad, I got it to practice with and learn moves, upkeep and such. It was cheap $59.00 . Thanks and have a great day.

i dont know about tha masakage, but i have a masahiro, and i find it is underserving of its bad reputation. sure, its not the best, but for its price(i paid 80 for ine) its a great starter sword. If you happen to mess it up while learning cuts or whatever, its not hard to replace, and if you treat it properly, it last fine too. Fitting are tight enough, though for how long i cant say yet, and while the blade may have some flaws(mine has a few, but they came out with a bit of work, thanks to this site, in learned how to do so) I havent yete taken the tsuba off, as im afraid of hurting it, not getting it back on, etc. but i plan to(i heard the tabgs on a masahiro were rather sharp?) so, all in all, i think its a great sword for such prices as you can find.

Thank you for your reply I just got a chance to look it over and it seems well made.I had to touch up the very tip it had a couple of rough spots in but thats all.I ran it down a leather belt to take any micro burrs off and now I bet you could shave with it ;D. Going to cut some bottles of water with it when the snow goes away.Again thanks for your reply and have a great day.

However, since the front edges on my tangs are flat you have to be careful of where they were filed down to or it could cut you. I have a pair of leather gloves I use only for taking my swords apart.( I would rather cut my glove than my hand and it keeps oil from my hands getting on the sword) Even though they are cheap, I have not had much trouble getting the tsuba off.
