Well, browsing KoA website and found out they have Hanwei Wootz Sword (casiberia.com/product/wootz-shaolin-sword/sh2385) in stock! That model has been out of stock for ages - possibly discontinued (even though the Hanwei chinese website still have it I believe - but it's unlikely would be available globally anymore)...
Anyone got spare $1250 to get this gladius size awesomeness? It's probably not very historical (just like its cousin, the Khitan wootz saber)... but c'mon.... it is Shaolin authorized edition!
KoA also has Beile Dao in stock... and the price is good!
Hey Junon, I can't find that jian on KOA. Is it in the pre-owned section or something? I always like the design of that blade but I think the Chinese writing on the scabbard piece looks anachronistic. I guess I'm nitpicking on a great looking jian but I think it should have be written with old seal script like this
I guess what I'm trying to say is it's like seeing a Gladius engraved in Old French Script!
Ouch! $1250 is pretty expensive for a sword that is only half sharp. KOA states that the blade is sharpened after the fuller. That's kinda a deal breaker for me because the sword is pretty short as is. The stats say that the pommel is integrated and I think I see glue on the end of the cord wrap.
The blade itself is really nice looking but I don't know too much about wootz...
Turok probably means the glue used to hold the wrap together... Yes... the sword is single piece (so the blade, guard, and handle are created from single piece of steel); I think hanwei got 2 model in this design... the Qi Jian and Wootz Shaolin (created as single piece).
Interesting design... but expensive

yes, you're correct junon. I did mean the handle wrap. The sword is very expensive for a gladius-sized sword! It's too bad CAS Hanwei got rid of their entire Chinese lineup. Discussions about Chinese swords have been dead here ever since...
mrstabby: Been thinking the same - but the person that set up the page might not be there anymore and old code gets messy when not maintained. Might be a "repair subscriptions, destroy function X, repair X, destroy Y" situation by now - would mean a total overhaul.

choseychas: Huh. Is there no fix on our side then? Or is it that you need to contact an admin since the auto system is down?

choseychas: That's what I figured, wasn't sure if it had become a limited club where you have to know someone to get in or what was going on.

choseychas: Anyone have any info on MyArmoury registration? Been wanting to make an account for a year or more (can't remember at this point) but every time I've checked they've halted registrations.

alinkinthechain: I also do love Boston. I've traveled a bit and nothing feels as wonderful as that city to me. I'm lucky to live nearby

blackngold: Dallas is the worst place in the country to fly in and out of. High winds can delay your flight by 6.5 hours and leave you sitting on the tarmac for an additional 2 (ask me how I know)...

nerdthenord: Oh I’ve been there lol, I’m in Texas. Dallas is certainly not high on my travel list lol
