Ok the wife has deceided she wants a mini wood lathe. Looking at a Nova Comet II right now looks like nice machine that can be expanded to a 40in lathe with an expansion bed.
Any one have any insight of this lathe.

I've no idea when it comes to wood lathes,Our local aldi has them in for £80,tempting but I don't think I'd make enough use of it.Now the Myford super 7 metal lathe at work, now that will be mine one day.
Well I've finished researching underhammer pistols for the day so I've spent a bit of time researching the comet II.Seems to be pretty well thought of as a light to medium duty lathe.there's a few negative reviews on the wood turning forums, but also a lot of positives as well. If you can snag one for a decent price it should be a good buy. Some of the resident wood workers will have a much better idea than me though.

I'll put the question to the guys at the woodworking forum I frequent - lumberjocks.com/forumsOn a side note, if your wife is interested and likes to talk/see wood projects, she might want to check out Lumberjocks. That's where I go for all things related to wood and I love it there. (big ol' sub forum just for us wood turners too)
