I luv Mr Easton. Swordsman, teacher, charisma and a very fair and generous seller.
But he's still a Limey not sufficiently schooled in the brilliance and gloire of French Arme Blanche (  )
Historical commentary was over simplified.
The US M1840 was an adoption of the "Germanized" version of the French M1822. The US looked at the French M1822 as a candidate for their sword, but the French didn't want to lease us production rights for their proprietary methods, so we did buisness with Schintzler&Kirschbaum instead.
The Klingenthal chartered franchise, which included Versailles Arsenal, made most French swords until 1831, when they lost the Charter to a newly established national arsenal at Chatellrault. After 1831 Klingenthal continued to do custom work and sub contracts. Losing ground to Solingen factories late in the 19th Cent thye went to bicycle building.
Solingen was a dominant force in providing edged weapons since the middle ages. Most independent national arsenals in europe stood up by recruiting Solingen artisans to resettle. Get R Bezdeks book German Swords. There is a table of the German Sword Families which lists many prominent members who went to the capitols of europe to work.
Blah, blah, blah... I gotta go do sumthin productive. Pay bills and stuff.

Quote: Blah, blah, blah... I gotta go do sumthin productive. Pay bills and stuff. end quote.
Well we are hungry for any little pearl of wisdom you throw our way. What means the above quote? We are Swine?

www.fioredeiliberi.org/antique-swords-uk/his sword sale point at fiorideliberi. Naaah! I just ran outta beans and really had to attend to the Davey-do list. Still waiting on my EmpireCostume sabre. Guinhut now thinks he'll ship o/a 15 Nov. Still no word from SarcoInc on the Imp German Lance shipping debacle. Paid my deposit on the USSU P1853. I bought two, so some lucky dog here is going to get to buy one after I report on them (mid Jan '14) Ken Hall of Hussar Saddlery discussed parts for the CaCheval Colpack. he's on schedule with his projects. By morning I hope to own an M1864 Swedish Dragoon Sabre. I need to sell three swords to make room for the newbies, but can't decide which, perhaps a Patton, and I have an Argentine M1852 Cavalry Sabre, 3 is ? Prepare for pdf formated reports for the office. Groceries..... My day "off"
