I want to legally purchase a karambit and keep it as a collector item. I live in Sydney Australia and karambits are now a controlled import so I can't get it sent via UPS, however I am still determined.
Can I: Go on an overseas shopping spree and fly back with it in my luggage? Go on an overseas shopping spree and sail back with it in my luggage?
So disappointed such a good knife is so hard to get a hold of, so if anyone help me I'd appreciate it.

Sorry you can't get this knife in Australia. Don't think you should be asking us you help you find a way to break the law.

Well, that depends on how exactly they are controlled. Is it illegal to bring them to the country, period? Is it commercial importing that's controlled? Or do you need a permit, or to pay a fee, or what?

My Advice would be to get it made in Australia by a smith, dagger's are illegal to import too but many Australian custom smiths make them, as they are not illegal to own just import, I'm sure they would be able too help you out if the Karambit is the same, maybe check out the Australian blade forum here. www.australianbladeforums.com/vb4/forum.php

Yeah I give up on importing, I'm just going to modify the one that I recently found.
