Ok, I was sent a E-Bay listing from a friend - so I took a gamble and bid - won the bid and waited, about two weeks later this was delivered : A 10" blade and 5" grip, call it a fantasy double edged dagger - with a "Damascus" blade using - 15N20 "Knifemakers who make damascus are familiar with 15N20. It is made by Uddeholm and is marketed for use as bandsaw blades in sawmills. In some damascus it is the shiny layers. The nickel in 15N20 resists the acid etch and stays shiny. 15N20 is a great steel for knife blades. It is very tough and easy to heat treat. The reason I think it is not more popular is because it is not available in thicker sizes." Along with something we are familiar with - 1095 This is a big beefy blade weighing 1.2 lbs or 550gms - 1 1/2 inches wide at the base with a diamond cross section and distal taper. Slightly hollow ground. The grip - Is brass and polished Camel bone - the balance point is barely in front of the cross guard. The blade has a "woodgrain/burl" pattern and is very distinctive - This comes sharp, and while I'm not normally a fan of bevelled edges this is well done and even on both sides of the blade, there is a very slight wire burr that should come off easily with a few swipes on a sharpening steel. A leather scabbard was included, good plain cow hide, well sewn and heavy. Here it is next to my Iphone 3 for scale I have tried to improve my lighting while taking the pics.

I have a few of those blades from EBay. Think they all come from Pakistan but some are marketed as being made in other countries. Ones I bought were from England and the seller denied they were made elsewhere (sounds familiar) but I researched and found out otherwise.
Anyway, the ones I have are decent quality and seem worth the price. The hilts are really nice on mine. If you do a search on EBay for custom knife or sword, these pop up a lot.
Oh yeah - Long Knife. ;-)

Quite amazing for the price, I'm picking up a few for Christmas presents this year, so much goes into the workmanship that you would have to pay hundreds for in a western country.
