I bought this sword off of Brian at DBK with a scabbard a few year ago.
Albion Duke
Specifications
Type: XIIIa
Total length: 46"
Blade length: 36"
Blade width at base: 2.19"
CoG: 5.75"
CoP: 22.25"
Grip Length: 7.5"
Type I pommel, Style 2 guard
Weight: 3 lbs 4 oz
Background: War Sword from the 13th and 14th Century. They generally have a blade length of 85-95 cm, when in hand and a half size. Their grips give ample room for two hands. Despite being rather massive they have such a balance that they could be wielded in one hand, although two- handed use was probably preferred. The blade has very little profile taper to allow for a very wide and crisp cutting section.
Type XIIIa: The defining characteristics of this type are a longer, wider blade whose edges run nearly parallel to a rounded, or spatula, tip. These blades are known to swell slightly in width just below the hilt, before the edges begin their virtually straight run to the point. Fullers generally run to around, or just over, half the length of the blade, creating a tip area that is wide and flat and is optimized for shearing blows. The cross-section of these blades is best defined as lenticular: a flattened ovoid shape. Grips tend to be longer than the earlier types, with an average length of around 6 inches, allowing for the off-hand to be used for extra leverage and power.

Impressions: This was my first Albion. I bought it from Brian Kuntz at DBK Scabbards. When the sword arrived, I unpacked it and had it sitting on the hard bed cover on my truck. I did not have the lid all the way closed and it lifted by itself and the sword went sliding off. It bounced in slow motion on the pavement and finally came to a stop. The peen block was dented and the blade, pommel and guard were scratched with a couple nicks. I wanted to cry as this was my first expensive sword.
This sword is excellent and handles like a dream. It is light in hand and has the wide menacing blade. The sword can be used with 1-hand in an emergency situation but shines using 2-hands. It has a very simplistic look which I like in most of my swords. I highly recommend this model from Albion if you can afford it or pick up on the secondary market like I did.
