Just wondering how you guys do you're distal taper, for me i take the Blade blank before i do any other grinding and then grind in the distal taper, ive heard some guys mention that theres some way you can make the distal taper set itself while grinding the primary bevels, but ive read these descriptions a thousand times and it just doesnt make sense to me. So, how do YOU do it?

I don't do swords, but this is how I taper knives. I rough grind the blade without taper, then grind a 45° angle down the spine on the edges in the amount of taper I want, then re-grind from edge to spine until the 45°ed edges disappear. If I want the taper near perfect,I finish on a 6 x 48 deck sander.
